Upper Lid Blepharoplasty is usually done as a cosmetic procedure to remove excess skin & reduce fat pads that create a hooded effect on the upper lid. This procedure can also be done for non-cosmetic purposes as well, like loss of peripheral vision due to the reasons listed above.
Lower Lid Blepharoplasty is done for similar reasons as the upper lid blepharoplasty however the lower lid will have the appearance of bags rather than hoodedness of the upper lid. In this procedure the fat is usually repositioned instead of being excised. This is done as to not gove the pt a sunken in look.
